Neuvic, Périgueux

You have now arrived in Neuvic, located 30 minutes from Périgueux, to visit the Neuvic sturgeon farm. Located on the banks of the Isle, the estate breeds sturgeon and produces caviar. During your walk of around one hour, you will see the different stages of sturgeon breeding as you learn about the development of a famous caviar.

Go to the town of Périgueux for lunch in a traditional restaurant. In the afternoon you will be free to visit Périgueux and its must-see monuments and sites.

You will have dinner in a typical regional restaurant and accommodation in a charming guest house.

Saint-Cyprien, Proumeyssac, Sarlat

After breakfast, leave to discover the black diamond of the Périgord. The jewel of Périgord gastronomy, truffles are a precious product appreciated in summer as well as in winter. A few rare truffle growers agree to open their production to the public to introduce you to the art of cavage and truffle harvesting. You will thus be among those lucky enough to be able to visit the truffle field of Péchalifour farm, located in Saint-Cyprien, and to take part in the search for truffles accompanied by the dog Farah.

Then you can prepare summer or winter truffle dishes, depending on the season, for lunch that you will share with the owners. On the menu: truffle toast aperitif, truffle brouillade, pan-fried and truffled goose foie gras, mashed potatoes with truffles, small vegetables, salad, cheese platter and surprise home-made dessert.

End this day rich in discoveries with a guided visit to the Gouffre de Proumeyssac, nicknamed the “crystal cathedral”. It is the largest natural cavity in the Périgord, where you will descend 3 by 3 in a basket powered by a horse.

In the evening, return to Sarlat to settle into your guest house, where you will stay the night and dine in a traditional town-centre restaurant.

Sarlat, Domme, La Roque-Gageac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and Beynac-et-Cazenac

Take advantage of being in the heart of the Périgord Noir to stroll through the charming village of Sarlat and delve through its must-see covered market. You will have lunch in a traditional Périgord restaurant in the heart of Sarlat.

We advise you to visit surrounding villages such as Domme, La Roque-Gageac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle or Beynac-et-Cazenac.

Then you will end your short stay with a ride in a gabarre, a traditional flat bottom sailboat intended formerly for the transport of goods on the Dordogne. A moment of relaxation guaranteed!

Visit the Breuil huts

Discover a unique place, shaped by history, the Breuil huts. The origin of these stone huts, also called bories, remains a mystery. Inhabited by the Sarlat Benedictines until the middle of the 15th century, they later became craft workshops.

A few hundred years later, they are listed historic monuments and belong to a family farm, which offers the opportunity to visit them. On the programme: animals, vines, vegetables and even bread-making in a wood oven.
